Dallas Commercial Construction Contracts Fall Again in June

June 2010 contracts for future commercial construction in the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan statistical fell 51 percent when compared to June 2009, according to McGraw-Hill Construction.

Non-residential construction contracts tracked by McGraw-Hill's Research and Analytics unit totaled $306M in June 2010, down 51 percent from more than $626M in June 2009. This continues the trend displayed in the first quarter, when future commercial construction contracts declined 31 percent, and in May, when they declined 10 percent.

McGraw Hill defines commercial real estate construction as commercial, manufacturing, educational, religious, administrative, recreational, hotel, dormitory and other non-residential buildings.

The metropolitan statistical area measured included Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, which consists of Collin, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant and Wise in Texas.
